Defense Intelligence Agency
The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) manages all of the defense intelligence programs and provides intelligence support to the (United States) Secretary of Defense and the JCS. DIA relies upon the resources of the armed services for intelligence collection and supervises the development of intelligence by the services to meet their own particular needs.
The DIA was founded in 1961 and employs about 4,541 personnel (of which 2,541 are full time civilian staff and 2,000 are Military personnel serving on three-year tours with the organization).
